about

I'm riding in a bar, floating on your thousand rings
Passing by the to other cars for the benefit of the stars and things
There are those windows off of queens' bridge that I look at every time
Oh, New York is so old and real when I see it in my mind

But I'm a contradiction, I hear you say
When you go about your life that way
But I was born with nothing more or new to say
But I hear you tell me, "Woman, you say it anyway, you always say it, say it anyway"

And from this great distance that you have
You can only see my other half
And when the other side is in the dark
You and your barren trees remark that this spinning around that we both do
Begins and ends with you

So I took a trip out here to take a look and see
Your point of view and how you have perceived me

And now I'm traveling across the stars
Quite drunk now in this floating bar
Which sits upon your thousand rings
And glows it's open light for the benefit of the stars and things

Like those lights from off of Queens' bridge that I cannot seem to forget
Take me out across the river
Oh New York is so old and real when I see it in my mind
So old and real when I see it in my mind

But I'm a contradiction you say
Make my garden in december with winter on the way
Oh my reasons, you know my reasons
I'm your child and I thrive through your harshest season
You were distant and far away
But you know me I've come to say
I've traveled such a long long way
For you to know my reasons
Made it through your harshest season
While you dance and decay
Your cracked skin always shows your age
And when I asked you for a glass of water
You sent me to the bar

And now I'm drunk and floating past these outer solar system stars
Which I don't recognize at all
Back to where I belong
Back to those windows off of Queens' bridge and the lights you can look in on

Oh there you go way off my blue home
Floating on these thousand rings are the ones you say who don't go back again
Beneath a different set of stars
They are the patrons of your many bars
Drunk and way beyond reminiscing
And dreaming a dream of my love's face that I am missing

Oh there you go way off my blue home
I could have said goodbye to anything watched you blue white and spinning
Years and years behind me now
Beyond your reach and not a sound
Drunk and time for bed this girl has gone and traded in her head
To carry around a feeling that's light years away
I long to come back any day

Oh there you go way off my blue home
I'm a lover til the end
Though yes we meet up again
And I know I'm back here looking on your cracked and aging skin
But I'm a lover til the end
You'll see that when you've burnt away all my skin
That tucked tight inside my skeleton
Is my love's face that I am missing
